Homer City Automation Past History

The Syntron® Product Line of Vibratory Parts Handling Equipment was first established in 1934. It has developed and grown steadily through the years. The Product Line was originally tied heavily to the Automotive Industry, where assembly line automation was heavily utilized and the need for oriented rotary and vibratory parts feeders was critical, to allow robotics to function. From the start, the Syntron® name remained the industry leader through a commitment of being progressive and introducing new technology. Through the years, the Syntron® Line of Vibratory Parts Handling Equipment continued to flourish and expand into other market sectors. The Syntron® Line of Vibratory Parts Handling Equipment enjoyed the largest market share serving industries including pharmaceuticals, plastics, packaging/counting, ammunition, electronics, cosmetics, hardware, and food production.

In 2006, FMC Technologies announced the Syntron® Line of Vibratory Parts Handling Equipment would discontinue production early in 2007, as part of the closure of the Homer City facility. Parts Handling was one of the 3 major product lines manufactured in Homer City, PA. Two product lines (Heavy and General Products) were identified for relocation to Tupelo, MS. and Changshu, China. On April 2, 2007, the business started operations as Homer City Acquisition, doing business as Homer City Automation.

Initially the business employed seven FMC Parts Handling employees and seven former FMC employees, for a total of fourteen.

Our employment base has grown from the initial 14 during the spring of 2007 to include 21 full time and one part time employee most of whom were formerly employed by FMC. Our expertise ranges from seven years to nearly 40 years. As FMC employees many of us performed one function within our respective departments; now, each employee is responsible for multiple tasks and takes great pride in the success of the business. Their demonstrated teamwork, dedication and pride are the core foundation of this rotary and vibratory parts business.
